Scientific Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Cam Lan – Department of Linguistics – University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. 10. Summary of thesis results: Alongside the numerous legal documents issued in recent times, issues related to semantics, such as terminology systems and the development of scientific understanding expressed in language, have also developed strongly, but always adhere to a strict logic. Accordingly, the meanings of words, when collectively perceived, must always exist and be arranged according to a certain organizational rule. The meanings of words in the context of everyday use and in the scientific context share many similarities due to the transformation of function and meaning. However, along with the ability to preserve or narrow the meaning of words in everyday use compared to their technical meanings, the context of everyday use also allows for further expansion of meaning. These may be elements not accepted in science, but are extremely familiar to the community, outside the purely scientific realm. Of the 1063 terms counted as the basis for the survey, we found that the highest percentage (44.12%) were terms whose meanings were constructed by transforming meaning from everyday words but only using a portion of the underlying meaning and developing it in depth – this is also concrete evidence of the development of semantics in Vietnamese; followed by terms using a portion of the underlying meaning and expanding it broadly (28.9%); and using the original underlying meaning (24.18%). The case where the underlying meaning of a term is expanded compared to the underlying meaning of everyday words only accounted for 2.64%, and there was only one word with a relatively separate but linked meaning. Furthermore, because there is only one defined content that does not change according to the context of use, terminology is the ideal means to establish accuracy in legal texts. The presence of a terminology system in legal texts is to ensure that consistency and accuracy. The fixed, immutable meaning of legal terminology makes legal texts rigorous and unchanging, an indispensable characteristic of regulations and laws. Legal terminology is a linguistic means that greatly contributes to creating clarity and coherence in legal texts. When expressing something, the elements displayed in the text are the result of a vocabulary selection process according to a certain priority order determined by the content to be established. 11. Practical application: In the process of surveying 1063 counted terminology units, we studied in two directions: - First direction: Methods of transformation to create terminology meaning: + 44.12% of terms transform meaning from everyday words but only use part of the underlying meaning and develop in depth + 28.9% of terms use part of the underlying meaning from everyday words and develop in breadth + 24.18% of terms use the original underlying meaning of everyday words. + Only 2.64% of terms have a broader meaning than their everyday meanings, and only one word has a relatively separate meaning but is linked by an essential semantic feature. - Second direction: Terminological terms play a central role in legal texts. With their frequent appearance in texts, Rights and Property, Obligations, Cases, Ownership, Regulations, etc., are the "keywords" that indicate pressing issues in social life, requiring the participation and regulation of legal provisions. It can be affirmed that the overwhelming number of occurrences of these terms is the clearest evidence of the value of these terms and the important position of terminology systems related to these elements in building the Vietnamese legal terminology system. 12. Next research directions: - The role and value of the intellectual meaning layer in Vietnamese legal terminology. - The systematic nature of Vietnamese legal terminology. - The value of legal terms expressing human rights in Vietnamese – compared with American English. 13. Published works related to the thesis: None.

Supervisors: Assoc. Dr. Trinh Cam Lan - Department of Linguistics - College of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU. 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis Along with the series of legal documents that were released last time, the issues related to semantics as terminology system and the development of cognitive function according to scientific which content in language also developed strongly, but always adhere to a strict logic. created, the meanings of the word gathered by aware always have to exit and arranged in a certain organizational rules. The meaning of word in the area of everyday and the area of science has much in common as a result of the conversion between function-meaning. However, along with the ability of conservation or narrow the inner meaning of word, words in using everyday can use more variously than the meaning of term. They can be the factors which are not accepted in science but they are used closely in the community outside the scope of pure science. In 1063 terms counted for our survey, we realized that the meaning of term is built on the conversion from the life meaning of word but only uses a part of connotation and the depth development calculated for the highest percentage (44.12%)- this is the concrete evidence of the development of semantics in Vietnamese. Then we use the method of using an internal function and implemented by width (28.9%), using all internal meaning (24.18%). In case inner term expands more wildly than inner meaning of life only accounts 2.64%, and there is only one word has internal function relatively separate but linked by weak implication. Because there is only one fixe content which isn't changed by context of use, term is the ideal facility to create the accuracy of legal documents. The existence of terminology system in the legal documents is to ensure the consistency and accuracy. The fixed meaning of the terminology of law makes the strict, unchanged legal documents, which is indispensable nature of the regulations, rules. The terminology of law is language facility contributed mostly in creating the verity and clarity of law documents. When some needs to express, elements are displayed on the text are result of a process of lexical selection that comply with a priority order determined by content to establish. 12. Practical applicability, if any During the survey of 1063 unit terms, we researched to directions: - The first direction: transform method to create the meaning of the term: + 44.12% term changes its meaning form daily life but only use an inner part and in-depth development. + 28.9% term changes its meaning form daily life but only uses an inner part and in-width development + 24.18% term uses all inner part of word. + only 2.64% inner term expands more wildly than inner meaning from life and there is only one word has internal function relatively separate but linked by weak implication. - The second direction: terms play a central role in legislation. With dense frequency in text, Rights and Asset, Obligations, the Court, Property, Regulations,… are the keywords refer to pressing issues of social fife require participation of adjustment of the terms of the law. We can confirm that the numerous occurrences of those terms is the most clearly demonstrated of the terms' value and important position of the terminology system related to those factors in Vietnamese terminology system law development. 13. Further research directions: - The role and value of intellectual mean level in Vietnamese legal term. - The systematic in Vietnamese legal terms. - The values of legal terms express Human rights in Vietnamese, compared with English-American. 14.
