10. Summary of thesis results:
Since its official emergence in the 1990s, ecocriticism has become one of the fastest growing and most promising fields in literary studies. Ecocritics have pointed out that the consciousness of nature is strongly influenced by the subject position in terms of ownership, race, class, gender or sexuality and often reflects the viewpoint of the dominant social ideology that is characteristic of men and white people (in European and American literature).

The thesis aims to identify, analyze and evaluate the awareness of nature, the relationship between nature and humans through the perspective of African American women from the past of slavery to the present of freedom. We find that nature in the work is polysemous, complex, flexible and changing. On that basis, the work raises the issue of the fair relationship between nature and humans, the fair relationship between races, classes, genders, the issue of freedom and the preservation and consolidation of identity.
