10. Summary of thesis results:

The thesis “Researching the symbolic semantic field in Vietnamese folk tales” focuses on two issues: examining groups of vocabulary indicating symbolic meanings in folk tales. From there, we will study the way Vietnamese people name objects in Vietnamese folk tales, through which we can see the cultural characteristics as well as the cultural thinking of Vietnamese people.

Through the survey, we found that Vietnamese folk jokes use a lot of word symbols and the role of these symbols in the content of the jokes is extremely important. The studied symbol fields are basic fields, closely related to the daily life of the Vietnamese community.

In terms of structure, most of the figurative expressions are single words and compound words. The number of figurative expressions appearing in the story is relatively rich in terms of quantity as well as type and they have permeation into each other, creating similarities as well as differences in meaning. From there, they have different values ​​in each specific situation to create ironic, satirical and educational laughter.

The relationship between the symbolic forms and the content of the joke shows the specific, familiar and easily visualized way of thinking of the Vietnamese people. Through the use of symbolic forms, we can see the characteristics of this genre, as well as the culture of the Vietnamese people in general.

11. Practical application:

The research results contribute to preserving and promoting the Vietnamese folk culture, and at the same time, it also supplements teaching and learning materials for jokes in the general education program.

- Learn about symbolic meaning in Vietnamese folk tales.

- Learn about the role of figurative language in expressing the themes of jokes.

Our thesis “Studying denotative field in Vietnamese folklore humor stories" mainly focuses on two issues: Studying lexicological groups having denotative meanings in Vietnamese folklore humor stories. It is comprehensive to study the identification ways/ methods of Vietnamese objects in Vietnamese folklore humor stories. We can see from these are Vietnamese cultural traits and thinking.

Through studying, we realized that Vietnamese folklore humor stories use a lot of denotative words and those words play a great role in humor stories' contents. Studied denotative field is the basic field with close relationship with Vietnamese lifestyle.

In terms of structure, most of denotations are single words and compound words. The number of denotations in humor stories is diverse in terms of its quality and its category. Their combination makes their meaning both similarities and differences. That is why they have different values ​​in specific contexts and create sarcasm, ironical and educational laughs.

The relationship between denotative forms and humorous stories' contents express a particular, close and imaginable ways of Vietnamese thinking. By using denotative methods, we understand the specific trail both of this denotation and Vietnamese culture.

The outcomes contribute to preserve and develop our folklore culture, as well as supplement documents in teaching and studying in schools' programs.
