10. Summary of thesis results:

Through reference sources on community tourism, craft village tourism as well as summarizing the success of countries around the world and Vietnam, the thesis has synthesized the theoretical basis, characteristics, conditions, principles, benefits, experiences and current trends in developing craft village tourism.

Based on secondary data related to community tourism activities in craft villages of Thua Thien Hue and survey data for local people, tourists and interviews with experts on tourism activities in two craft villages Bao La and Phuoc Tich pottery village, the thesis analyzed and evaluated the current status of community tourism in Thua Thien Hue in general and two craft villages Bao La and Phuoc Tich in particular. From the results of analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of the two craft villages Bao La and Phuoc Tich pottery village, the thesis proposed key solutions to remove barriers to tourism development in these two craft villages along with some key activities that need to be implemented to promote tourism development in the two craft villages Bao La and Phuoc Tich pottery village in particular and in the craft villages of Thua Thien Hue in general.

11. Practical application:

The results of the thesis provide new information and data that can be used by state management agencies on tourism, related districts and communes as well as craft villages to have plans and policies to develop craft village tourism in a more sustainable direction in terms of economy, culture and environment. The research results also contribute to enriching the source of reference materials for teachers and students of schools teaching tourism majors.

12. Further research directions:

If I have the opportunity to do more research, I will continue to research more deeply on the community tourism model for different types of craft villages in Thua Thien Hue province.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis

With the reference on community-based tourism, handicraft village tourism, successful experience of some handicraft villages worldwide such as those in Japan, Thailand, China and in Vietnam, the thesis has listed all the rationale, characteristics, conditions, principles, benefits, experience and development tendency of handicraft villages nowadays.

Based on the secondary data related to the community-based tourism activities in handicraft villages and the surveys among the inhabitants, tourists and interviews with professionals about the tourist activities in Bao La bamboo Weaving Village and Phuoc Tich Pottery Village, the thesis has analyzed, evaluating the reality of tourism activities of the community-based tourism in TT-Hue Province in general and in Bao La bamboo Weaving Village and Phuoc Tich Pottery Village in particular.

From the results gained, the SWOT analysis are made for Bao La bamboo Weaving Village and Phuoc Tich Pottery Village, which leads to the basic solutions for the barriers for the tourism development at the two villages, accompanied by proposed activities to strengthen the development of community-based tourism in TT-Hue Province in general and in Bao La bamboo Weaving Village and Phuoc Tich Pottery Village in particular.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The thesis results provide information and new data, which could be used by state-owned tourism agencies, concerning districts and communes as well as handicraft villages for better planning and creating policies aiming at the economics, cultural and environmental sustainability

The thesis results also contribute to the list of references for the teaching and learning at the local training facilities, including those who major in Tourism.

13. Further research directions, if any:

If I have an opportunity to conduct further researches, I would continue to study further on the community based tourism for different handicraft villages in Thua Thien Hue Province.
