ButIn theory

This thesis hopes to contribute to the study of occupational terminology in Vietnamese, specifically the vocabulary of the embroidery profession – a specialized area of vocabulary that has not been fully explored.

This thesis also aims to affirm the validity and effectiveness of research approaches in sociolinguistics, lexicology, and cultural studies in Vietnam in the study of professional terminology.

- In practical terms

The limited vocabulary of embroidery terminology that we collected in Dong Cuu village, Thuong Phuc commune, will be a valuable resource contributing to the preservation of the current embroidery language, which is at risk of disappearing due to urbanization and modernization.

The research findings can serve as a reference for those involved in the conservation and promotion of traditional craft villages, particularly beneficial for cultural tourism, heritage education, and the development of handicraft products.

The results of this research could also be helpful in compiling a dictionary of embroidery techniques, teaching materials on local culture and language, or as a basis for comparative studies with other craft villages in Vietnam and abroad.

- In terms of social and cultural significance

This thesis contributes, to some extent, to affirming the role of language in preserving cultural memory and the community identity of traditional craft villages.

This will create a stronger scientific basis for proposing policies and activities aimed at honoring artisans, preserving folk knowledge, and fostering a connection between tradition and modernity in local economic and cultural development.
