Summary of the thesis results: The thesis has contributed to clarifying the particularly important role of water in the cultural life of the Tay people in Cao Bang. Water is present in all aspects of the Tay people's cultural life in Cao Bang, from folk beliefs to daily life, in agricultural production, and even in the sustainable development of the ethnic group. Since ancient times, water has always been closely associated with the lives of the Tay people, from choosing their place of residence to selecting agricultural production methods suitable to the terrain. As an ethnic group with a long-standing tradition of wet rice farming and a rich irrigation system, water has contributed to agricultural production to sustain the lives of the Tay people. In today's era, along with the development of the market economy, many new factors impact the cultural life of the Tay people, but the element of water is still highly valued. However, it is also inevitable that some old customs and traditions regarding water conservation are fading away. This thesis not only highlights the role of water in the lives of the Tay people since ancient times but also affirms that water has always played a crucial role in the cultural life of the Tay people and offers suggestions for protecting water resources for the sustainable development of the ethnic group.
