Summary of thesis results: Through the research results on snake farming in Vinh Son commune, Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province (1986-2008), we draw the following conclusions: - Vinh Son is a commune located near the center of Vinh Tuong district, with many favorable conditions such as: abundant labor, extensive experience in animal husbandry, infrastructure, geographical location near the district's major commercial center, Tho Tang town,... for economic development, especially the development and improvement of the economic efficiency of snake farming. This is an important condition for economic development and contributes to improving the living standards and income of the people of Vinh Son. - Before 1986, snake farming was not very popular due to many difficulties, but after 1986, with the help of the People's Committee of the commune, snake farming began to be widely experimented with, and currently, the majority of households in the commune are engaged in snake farming, bringing high income, contributing to the development of the livestock industry throughout the commune, changing the face of the rural area, improving people's lives, and raising the level of education. - However, snake farming still faces many difficulties such as: the craft village has not been planned as a separate area, and most of it is still spontaneously developed by households, leading to increasing environmental pollution due to waste from snake feed sources; the profession is a source of death and injury; risks in farming are high due to the lack of specialized medical personnel; difficulties in the market, especially in the consumption of coriander venom products; farmers are often pressured by traders to sell snakes at low prices… - The study also presents some current situations and solutions to further develop the craft village in the future.
