近年来，越南语中的外来词大多源自印欧语系。尽管越南语与印欧语系语言的接触起步较晚，但其借词趋势不但没有减弱，反而呈上升趋势。自20世纪90年代以来，互联网蓬勃发展，90%的在线信息以英语撰写。这成为越南语在文化、科学和日常交流领域外来词的主要来源。本研究旨在分析文化交流的程度以及外来思想对越南人思维的影响。互联网是影响公众舆论的有效平台，而语言是受影响最先的领域之一，也是衡量文化交流和渗透程度的重要指标。本研究还将分析外来词在越南语中的适应情况。

A big part of lexical borrowings in modern Vietnamese language is derived from languages of Indo-European origin. Even though the process of interaction between Vietnamese language and the Indo-European languages has started quite late it is becoming more and more active each day.

The Internet started becoming widespread from the 1990s with English being the most used language. Nowadays 90% of information on the Internet is written in English and the World Wide Web is the main source of foreign words in Vietnamese language.

This research is aimed to evaluate level of cultural and language exchange between Vietnamese people and other countries. Internet is an effective way to influence people’s minds with language being one of the first leverage, so by analysing the amount of borrowings as well as what kind of fields this borrowed words belong to. This research also aims to analyse how borrowed lexics act and change in Vietnamese language. 

11. Practical applicability:

This research has a historical value as it is analyzing new words to find out what kind of words were lacking in Vietnamese language throughout the history. It has value for the social sciences field as it analyses what countries and languages had the most influence on Vietnamese culture, philosophical views and society. It is also valuable for linguistics as it analyses how Vietnamese language has changed over time.
