10. Summary of the thesis results:

This thesis analyzed and described the characteristics of the marked phonetic variants in Quoc Oai district and described the functional space of these variants on a map based on auditory perception of tones, initial consonants, and vowels, in comparison with the phonetic characteristics of other regions in particular and with standard Vietnamese in general. In this area, the remaining components of the syllable do not show marked variants. The specific results are as follows:

- Regarding tones: According to the analysis we obtained in Quoc Oai, the Quoc Oai dialect has 6 tones. Of these, tone 1 (level), tone 2 (falling), tone 5 (rising), and tone 6 (heavy) each have only one marked variant. Tone 4 (falling) has three marked variants. Tone 3 (rising) has no marked variants.

- Regarding initial consonants: According to the analysis results we obtained in Quoc Oai, at several or multiple survey points, the initial consonants /n, l, ş, ʐ, z/ all showed at least one marked variant/differential variant, while the initial consonant /ʈ/ had two marked variants/differential variants.

- Regarding the main vowel sound: According to the analysis results we obtained in Quoc Oai, at several or multiple survey points, the vowels /ă, ɤˇ, ɔ, ɔˇ, ie/ all appear with at least one marked variant.

All these phonetic variations are represented on a map using the method of linguistic-geographic mapping.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

The thesis gives an analysis and portrait of phonetic variations are marked in Quoc Oai district and space served on the map, based on experimental findings and acoustic senses of tone, syllable-initial, main-vowel in comparison with typical features of other areas and universal Vietnamese language. In this area, the rest of the syllables do not appear marked variations. The findings are specified as follow:

- Tones: Our findings point out in Quoc Oai district has a system of 6 tones. Among them, tone 1, tone 2, tone 5, tone 6 only appear a marked variation. Tone 4 has three marked variants. Tone 3 does not appear marked variation.

- Syllable-initials: Our findings point out in Quoc Oai district, at some survey sites or most of the survey sites, those consonants as /n, l, ş, ʐ, z/ appear at least one marked viriation. Consonant /ʈ/ appears two marked variations.

- Main-vowels: Our findings points out in Quoc Oai district, at some survey sites or most of the survey sites, /ă, ɤˇ, ɔ, ɔˇ, ie/ appear at least one marked variant.

All these phonetic variants are represented on the maps by means of geolinguistic mapping.
