10. Summary of the thesis results:

10.1. Born in what is often called the "cradle of culture," I feel very proud and fond of my homeland, the Kinh Bac region. The Bac Ninh – Kinh Bac area was formerly considered one of the four pillars of Thang Long (Hanoi), the birthplace and center of Quan Ho folk singing – a unique, distinctive, and representative art form of the Northern Delta region. Numerous articles and research studies on Quan Ho folk songs have affirmed the immense cultural, artistic, and historical value that Quan Ho contributes to the national civilization. These works focus on in-depth research into the music of Quan Ho folk songs, or examine the formation and development of Quan Ho singing as a factor and prerequisite for the formation of other art forms. However, from a linguistic research perspective, by examining the conceptual metaphors in the lyrics of Quan Ho folk songs from a linguistic viewpoint, as a form of cultural activity in the villages of the ancient Kinh Bac region, we can explore the characteristics, nature, meaning, and value of folk cultural heritage in traditional society and its transformation in modern society.

10.2. This thesis applies general theories of cognitive linguistics, particularly the theory of conceptual metaphor, to identify and analyze conceptual metaphor models based on Quan Ho folk songs as a corpus. By analyzing specific conceptual metaphors belonging to typical categories in the field of folk songs, the thesis also aims to enrich and diversify research on conceptual metaphors in general, and conceptual metaphors about people and love in Quan Ho folk songs in particular. Furthermore, the thesis contributes to clarifying the characteristics of conceptual thinking of the people in the Kinh Bac delta region in the most comprehensive way.

10.3. Cognitive linguistics is a research movement in language that emerged and flourished worldwide in the 1970s. However, in Vietnam, cognitive linguistics research has only truly developed and flourished in recent years.

Conceptual metaphor is a form of human thinking about the world, an effective tool for conceptualizing abstract concepts. The mechanism of conceptual metaphor, as described above, is a schema-like mapping between two spatial domains: Source and Target. Metaphorical mapping is linear and partial. Cognitive models often emphasize the mental nature, perceptual experience, and scientific knowledge of humans. As the basis of thinking, metaphor is also considered an important tool for humans to understand and explore themselves. Furthermore, conceptual metaphors are embodied, meaning they are based on physical (physical) experiences and cultural experiences.

10.4. Like many countries around the world, Vietnamese folk music is the root of the development of Vietnamese music. Quan Ho Bac Ninh is a unique cultural and artistic activity of Vietnamese folk culture. Over time, Quan Ho Bac Ninh is no longer confined to "village Quan Ho" but has spread throughout the country, even crossing borders to friends around the world. Introducing and promoting Quan Ho folk songs is very important, because we know and are aware of the need to preserve and protect the ancient heritage of the nation. However, we also need to boldly reconsider some issues regarding the preservation and promotion of the value of Quan Ho folk songs.

10.5. By surveying the appearance and use of human metaphors in 100 ancient Quan Ho folk songs, this thesis provides a general overview of how the people of the Kinh Bac region, rich in tradition and ancient culture, express love and describe human beings in a way that is both rustic and subtly refined. Through the analysis of human and love metaphors in Quan Ho, the student hopes to further clarify the emotions and charm hidden in each lyric and melody of Bac Ninh Quan Ho. From this, it offers a perspective from a social science, namely linguistics, contributing significantly to the development, preservation, and safeguarding of the unique characteristics of this folk art form.

10.6. Studying conceptual metaphors in Quan Ho folk songs from a linguistic perspective, with the meaning as a form of folk culture in the Kinh Bac cultural region and its transformation and adaptation process, not only makes a significant contribution to understanding the value of this unique cultural heritage.

11. Practical applications:

Based on observations and conclusions regarding the use of cognitive metaphors in Quan Ho folk songs, this thesis aims to contribute to harmonizing the relationship between tradition and modernity, between cultural integration and development in the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values. From this, it will practically contribute to providing a scientific and practical basis for the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Quan Ho Kinh Bac.
