This thesis studies: Vietnam's current policies on attracting and managing foreign direct investment – ​​Current situation and solutions. The thesis has achieved the following results:

- This thesis studies some general issues of foreign direct investment: its concept, characteristics, nature, and impact on socio-economic development.

- This thesis researches the content of Vietnam's current foreign direct investment attraction policy; assessing its positive and negative impacts on:

+ The international investment environment in Vietnam.

Attracting capital

+ Efficient use of capital resources

+ The process of expanding foreign relations and integrating into the international economy.

- This thesis proposes several groups of solutions to enhance the attraction of foreign investment and improve the efficiency of capital utilization for the socio-economic development of Vietnam today.

The novel contribution of this thesis is: evaluating the impacts of Vietnam's foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction policies on Vietnam's current socio-economic development; and proposing solutions to enhance the attraction and effective utilization of FDI.
