- The thesis contributes to clarifying general theoretical issues on poverty and the Party's direction of poverty reduction.
- The thesis systematically presents the process of the Party Committee and people of Doan Hung district leading the implementation of hunger eradication and poverty reduction and the results achieved since the poverty eradication policy of the Party and State in the years from 1997 to 2012.
- The thesis objectively evaluates achievements, limitations and initially draws some experiences, proposes recommendations on poverty reduction in the following years.
