  • The author has systematized the theoretical foundations of tourism promotion, its role, and the main forms of promotion used in current tourism activities to attract and develop the tourist market. Based on this, the author applies it to the practical activities of promoting tourism in Hanoi.
  • By studying the current situation of Chinese tourists visiting Hanoi over the past five years and analyzing the results of surveys on Chinese tourists in Hanoi, this thesis shows that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Hanoi is increasing but is always subject to fluctuations. Furthermore, through conducting surveys and interviews with Chinese tourists visiting Hanoi, the author has preliminarily drawn conclusions about the sources of Chinese tourists to Hanoi.
  • Based on an analysis of the current state of tourism promotion in the capital city, this thesis clearly identifies the advantages, difficulties, limitations, and opportunities for Hanoi tourism in attracting the Chinese tourist market in the coming years. From this, it proposes several solutions and recommendations to tourism management agencies at the central and Hanoi levels to further develop this market in the coming years.

Topic “Tourism promotion activities of Hanoi City towards attracting Chinese tourists” researched in 2009-2013 period, the thesis gained results as follows:

- Systematized theoretical base for tourism promotion, roles and forms of promotion activities mainly used in current tourism activities in order to attract and develop a tourist market and based on that the author applied to tourism promotion activities of Hanoi City.

- By researching the real situation of a number of Chinese visitors to Hanoi City over the past five years through analyzing survey results of Chinese tourists coming to Hanoi, the thesis shows that Chinese tourists coming to Hanoi increasing but changing market. Along with the above work, examinations, surveys and interviews of Chinese tourists have also been conducted, according to the author draws conclusions about a source of Chinese visitors to Hanoi.

- On the basis of analyzing the real situation of promotion activities of Hanoi tourism industry for the purpose of attracting tourists, the thesis points out advantages, disadvantages, restrictions as well as opportunities of Hanoi tourism industry towards attracting Chinese tourists in the upcoming time, and then it proposes some solutions and recommendations to the tourism authorities at central level and Hanoi tourism authorities in order to strongly develop this tourist market in the upcoming years.
