The thesis has clarified the formation and development process of the Shangri-La Dialogue from 2002 to 2015. The Shangri-La Dialogue (originally known as the Asian Security Summit) was initiated in 2002, where Asia-Pacific Defense Ministers can participate in dialogue to build trust and promote cooperation.

The thesis analyzes the importance of the Shangri-La Dialogue for regional security. This is a dialogue with the participation of politicians, diplomats, defense officials, and academic experts, sharing their views as well as unified assessments of the regional security situation to shape cooperation frameworks. Over the past 15 years, the Shangri-La Dialogue has become an important forum for finding solutions for peace and security in a rapidly changing Asia.

The thesis presents Vietnam's participation and contribution at the Shangri-La Dialogue. Thereby, the thesis proposes measures for Vietnam to continue to participate in the dialogue effectively and enhance Vietnam's position and role in the region.
