10. Summary of thesis results:
This thesis will contribute to supplementing the theory of Vietnamese prepositions and prepositional phrases in Vietnamese linguistics research. For prepositions, we do not only stop at defining and identifying but also classifying and describing groups of prepositions in Vietnamese. On the other hand, based on the identification criteria, distinguishing prepositions and conjunctions in the group of conjunctions/relatives has become easier. From here, we affirm the position of prepositions in the word class system, making the word class system more clearly and specifically defined. For prepositional phrases, this thesis not only supplements the theory of prepositional phrases but also partly affirms the role of the main component of prepositional phrases in prepositional phrases. When analyzing the function of prepositional phrases in sentences, we also see the very flexible and rich operation of prepositional phrases.
11. Practical application:
In teaching and learning, the thesis will be a reference source for teachers, students and pupils when dealing with problems and exercises related to prepositions. In particular, in the process of teaching and learning Vietnamese with foreigners, based on the information in the thesis, teachers and students can systematize and design lessons suitable for the parts related to prepositions and prepositional phrases. By identifying and systematizing prepositions according to certain criteria, teachers can help students remember and use prepositions more accurately, instead of memorizing each preposition individually and how to use them.
In the work of compiling dictionaries, based on the theories in the thesis, the compiler can have more basis in identifying prepositions and distinguishing prepositions from conjunctions. With clearer identification criteria, the compiler's classification of word types for entries will become easier and more accurate.
