The thesis studies the basic theoretical issues and practical foundations of modernizing activities at the National Library of Laos.

The thesis has conducted a survey of the current status of electronic information sources, standardized professional work, deployed integrated specialized software applications, invested in facilities and information technology infrastructure... The thesis evaluates the effectiveness of modernizing operations and points out the remaining limitations in library information activities at the National Library of Laos.

The thesis has proposed a number of solutions to improve the collaboration to modernize activities at the Lao National Library.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

The thesis studies fundamental theoretical issues in modernizing library information's activities; practical background and current status of the National Library of Laos. It then provides the strategic direction and specific solutions for modernizing the National Library of Laos' library information activities.

Based on survey of building infrastructure, electrical resources, standards of the library related activities, application of library software and information technology (IT) in the National Library of Laos, the performance of the library's activities is evaluated and its remaining issues are identified.

The thesis proposes several solutions for the modernization of the National Library of Laos' operation.
