Since the normalization of relations in November 1991, forms of educational cooperation have become increasingly diverse, content richer, and achievements more evident. The education systems of Vietnam and China have delved into many aspects, but the most prominent and easily recognizable is the cooperation in higher education between the two countries. On April 30, 2009, the Governments of Vietnam and China officially signed an Agreement on the Equivalence of Higher Education Degrees, providing a basis for the rapid verification and recognition of higher education degrees from both countries, as well as facilitating and improving student exchange programs.

Since the Agreement on the Recognition of Equivalence of Higher Education Degrees between the two countries came into effect on April 30, 2009, Vietnamese and Chinese higher education institutions have had more opportunities for exchange and cooperation, especially in the field of training. This includes forms such as: joint training programs approved by the Ministry of Education and Training; bilateral training cooperation and student exchanges between the two institutions; and student exchanges funded by the state budget. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze and evaluate the current state of higher education cooperation, including its forms, content, successes, and limitations, between China and Vietnam from 2009 to 2018. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of higher education cooperation and propose solutions to further strengthen higher education cooperation between the two countries in a more substantive and effective manner.
