10. Summary of the thesis results:
Firstly, based on a review of relevant literature, especially global criteria for sustainable tourism development, this thesis has developed a suitable system of criteria for evaluating sustainable marine and island tourism activities with four main pillars: management, economics, environment, and socio-cultural aspects.
Secondly, the thesis has developed a scale of criteria for evaluating the sustainability of tourism on Hon Tam Island. This evaluation model can be applied to assess the sustainability of marine and island tourism activities in Nha Trang Bay in particular, and marine and island tourism in Vietnam in general.
Thirdly, based on the survey results, the thesis has provided objective assessments of the current state of tourism activities on Hon Tam Island (both positive and negative) and identified the causes of those results.
Fourth, the thesis has proposed some basic directions for the sustainable development of tourism on Hon Tam Island. These directions could also serve as good suggestions for the sustainable development of tourism on other islands.
11. Practical applications (if any)
This serves as a valuable reference for the leadership of MerPerle Hon Tam Company in its business development strategy and for state management agencies in managing and guiding the sustainable development of Nha Trang's island and coastal tourism.
12. Future research directions
Applying and developing evaluation criteria for other islands, thereby drawing a general model for planning sustainable tourism development on the islands in Nha Trang Bay.
