10. Summary of the thesis results:
The thesis outlines an overview of the current state of disputes in the South China Sea, as well as the factors influencing the resolution of these disputes from the end of the Cold War to the present.
Based on that, the thesis further clarifies the development of internal relations among ASEAN countries regarding the South China Sea issue, dividing it into three phases. The first phase, from 1992 to 2002, corresponds to the expansion and building of internal relations in resolving the South China Sea issue; the second phase, from 2002 to 2012, corresponds to the stagnation of internal cooperation and the emergence of many conflicts; and the third phase, from 2012 to 2022, is the period when ASEAN strives to overcome limitations, rebuild relations, and aim for new successes.
This thesis clarifies the ups and downs in 30 years of intra-ASEAN cooperation on the South China Sea issue, offering assessments of both the successes and limitations of this relationship. From this, it examines its impact on ASEAN as well as Vietnam.

The thesis outlines the East Sea (internationally known as South China Sea) dispute as well as factors affecting the dispute settlement process in the East Sea since the Cold War
On that basis, the thesis further clarifies the development of intra-ASEAN relations on the East Sea issue with 3 periods. The first period was from 1992 to 2002 - corresponding to the time interval of expansion and building of intra-regional relations on the East Sea issue; The second period, from 2002 to 2012 - corresponding to the time interval of internal conflicts appears. And the third period from 2012 to present time- is the time interval overcoming limitations, rebuilding relationships and work towards new success.
The thesis has clarified the ups and downs in the 30 years of ASEAN intra-ASEAN cooperation on the East Sea issue, and evaluating the success and limitations of this relationship. From there, see its impact on ASEAN as well as Vietnam.
