Summary of thesis results: - The thesis researches and investigates the communication work and effectiveness of communication on road traffic safety in Hanoi by VOV Traffic Channel, the "Traffic News" segment - VTV1 channel of Vietnam Television, Hanoi Moi online newspaper, and Hanoi Moi print newspaper during the period from 2008 to 2010. - The thesis presents theoretical issues on communication and the effectiveness of media communication on traffic safety, thereby examining the practical situation, analyzing, explaining, and finding measures to improve the effectiveness of media communication on road traffic safety in Hanoi. - This thesis surveys and evaluates the communication work of VOV Traffic Channel, the "Traffic News" segment on VTV1, Vietnam Television, Hanoi Moi Newspaper (online), and Hanoi Moi Newspaper (print) during the period from 2008 to 2010, both in terms of content and communication methods. However, the thesis has attempted to provide the most general overview of the content, form, and communication methods of VOV Traffic Channel, the "Traffic News" segment on VTV1, Vietnam Television, Hanoi Moi Newspaper (online), and Hanoi Moi Newspaper (print) during the period from 2008 to 2010; Based on that, several groups of solutions are proposed to improve the effectiveness of media communication on road safety in Hanoi in the coming time from the following perspectives: specialized agencies; media organizations, reporters, and editors. Through the research results, the thesis aims to contribute a voice and propose some solutions to improve the effectiveness of media communication on road safety in Hanoi; at the same time, enhance the role of the press in ensuring traffic safety in general and road safety in particular in Hanoi. 11. Practical application: Through the survey and research results, the thesis provides the leadership of specialized agencies, media organizations, editors, and reporters covering the field of transportation in general and road safety in particular with reference information and some solutions to further improve the effectiveness of media communication on road safety in Hanoi; to better meet the public's information needs and the leadership and management work of Hanoi city's Party committees and authorities regarding road traffic safety. 12. Summary of the findings of the thesis: (Summarize them with stress on the new findings, if any) The thesis carried out a research into the media effect on road safety in Hanoi of VOV Transport Channel, “Transport News” – a program by VTV1 from Vietnam Television, and of both the printed and electronic versions of New Hanoi in the period of 2008 – 2010. The research summarized the literature review on the media and the effect of the media on road safety and such theory were used as the guideline to explain and analyze the situation of road situation in Hanoi. Suggestions and reccomendations were then provided for the improvement of media effect on the road safety in the capital city. The thesis evaluates and evaluates the media effect of both the contents and the forms of implementation by VOV Transport Channel, “Trasnport News” Program by VTV 1 Channel from Vietnam Television, both the printed and electronic versions of New Hanoi Newspaper. The results from the investigation and assessment helped us propose some reccomendations on how to improve the effect of the media on road safety in Hanoi. Due to the limited scope of this thesis, the suggestions provided are believed to have their own drawbacks, for example they may not be in-depth detail. However, the author has made an effort to generalize the contents, forms and methods of media as employed by VOV Transport Channel, Transport News Program by VTV1 from Vietnam Television, the printed and electronic versions of New Hanoi in the period of 2008 – 2010. Based on such generalization, several groups of suggestions were made for different levels in the media industry: high ranking management and professtional organizations, media organizations and journalists/reporters in order to enhance the effect of media by the mentioned research objects on road safety in Hanoi in the future. It is hoped that the results, discussions and suggestions of this research will contribute to the improvement of the media effect on road safety in Hanoi as well as better emphasize the role of the media on the implementation of transport safety in general and road safety in particular in the area of ​​Hanoi. 12. Practical applicability, if any: The results of this investigation provide a reference to the situation of transport and road safety in Hanoi to high ranking leaders, professional bodies, media organizations as well as journalists and reporters who may wish to apply the recommendations to help improve the situation which will then meet the need of the general public for information on how road safety is managed by the city's people committee at different levels. 13.
