10. Summary of the thesis results:
The research findings of the project "Model of group social work with orphaned children integrating into the community" (case study at SOS Children's Village Hanoi) are as follows:
This study has partially investigated the model of group social work currently taking place at the SOS Children's Village in Hanoi. Specifically, it examines social work activities within the village, such as prevention, treatment, education, vocational guidance and training, and community reintegration.
The study explored and identified criteria for community integration for orphaned children, including: the first criterion being awareness; the second being stable employment and income; and the third being social recognition, giving them a certain status in society.
The study also reflected the realities of children's lack of integration, the causes of their psychological difficulties in social integration, and the needs and aspirations of orphaned children. Simultaneously, the study proposed several solutions in applying group social work through counseling activities that provide basic life skills. Children need to acquire fundamental life skills such as teamwork, crisis management, self-defense, and persuasive presentation skills. They need to understand their legitimate rights and responsibilities so they can take control of their lives and integrate into society. This is achieved through meetings, discussions, and group therapy activities aimed at helping and supporting children to integrate and develop normally.
11. Practical applications: (if any)
The research findings addressed solutions through specific group social work therapy activities for orphaned children at SOS Children's Villages in particular, and at SOS Children's Villages in general throughout the country. Through this, the study aimed to develop a professional social work model in children's villages to help orphaned children who lack adequate living conditions and care, both mentally and materially, to better integrate into the community.
12. Future research directions: (if any)
Based on the initial results obtained from this study, we plan to conduct further research on the application of a group social work model to enhance community integration capacity for orphaned children in several SOS Children's Villages nationwide, in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of this model when applied in practice.
