Through the analysis of the collected data from Vietnamese learning materials, it can be seen that the semantics of Vietnamese directional words not only include concrete meanings but also abstract meanings. Especially when they are placed after a main verb in a sentence, their meaning is more fictitious. Therefore, in the survey andThe writings of intermediate-level Chinese learners of Vietnamese show that errors occur at a relatively high rate. Through the error cases, the thesis compares and contrasts Chinese and Vietnamese directional words, thereby contributing to clarifying the unique characteristics in terms of quantity, form, grammatical structure and semantics between the two languages.

This thesis not only has theoretical value but also is an advantage for Chinese people learning Vietnamese as well as helps us understand more deeply the characteristics of Vietnamese directional words.
