11. Summary of thesis results:

The thesis focuses on surveying and analyzing a number of projects and materials for teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese children abroad - the subjects learning Vietnamese as a heritage language. Based on theories of heritage languages, the thesis has clarified the characteristics of heritage learners, the principles of heritage language education in the context of globalization, thereby assessing the suitability of current programs and materials with the practice of teaching and learning Vietnamese abroad.

The survey content includes projects related to teaching Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese and teaching materials such as Happy Vietnamese, My Vietnamese, Hello Vietnamese, Vietnamese Teaching Materials for Overseas Vietnamese Children - Level 1 and Level 2, etc. The evaluation of the materials is based on the following criteria: content, methods, compatibility with the target learners, as well as the ability to develop language and cultural competence. Thereby, the thesis points out the strengths, limitations and potential for improvement of each material, while emphasizing the need for a comprehensive language policy for teaching Vietnamese as a heritage language.

Conclude:

The thesis affirms the important role of teaching Vietnamese as a heritage language in preserving and developing the cultural identity of the Vietnamese community abroad. To achieve high efficiency, the development of teaching materials and programs requires coordination between language experts, educators and the Vietnamese community abroad, with a flexible, diverse and adaptive orientation to the multicultural context.

12. Practical application:The research results of the thesis have many possibilities for practical application in building learning programs for Vietnamese children abroad to learn Vietnamese. Some proposals on combining language education with traditional culture teaching will help children to absorb Vietnamese more easily and have more understanding and attachment to their native culture. In addition, clearly identifying the challenges posed to the preservation and development of Vietnamese as a heritage language also helps management agencies have more basis to issue and implement language policies. These research results can also be referenced and applied to study similar cases in the future.

13. Further research directions:Based on the research results of the thesis, it is possible to continue to expand and deepen the following research directions: First, expand the survey area and subjects to have a more comprehensive view of the current situation of using other Vietnamese teaching materials for overseas Vietnamese children in countries and territories with many Vietnamese people living. Second, study the current digitalized resources to see the effectiveness of this type of material for learners in the context of strong digital transformation, in order to achieve the goal of teaching Vietnamese as a heritage language.
