10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

This study surveys English-Vietnamese code-mixing in conversational interactions featured in Season 3 of the Vietnamese reality television show Who is that person (“Who Is Single?”). Anchored in theories of language contact among code-mixing, and code-switching, the research identifies and analyzes English insertions in Vietnamese speech, with a focus on their linguistic forms and sociopragmatic functions.

Findings indicate that code-mixing fulfills multiple communicative purposes, such as conveying stylistic nuances, alleviating conversational tension, and compensating for lexical gaps. Beyond linguistic utility, the phenomenon reflects broader patterns of youth language in a globalized context and signals the personal styles and identities of participants. This study contributes to ongoing discussions on language hybridization in media discourse and the sociolinguistic dynamics of multilingual settings.

11. Practical applicability: The findings of this study provide a comprehensive corpus of data that constitutes a valuable reference within the domain of applied linguistics, particularly in the area of language information services. This thesis further contributes to the theoretical expansion of language contact phenomena in the context of mass media in Vietnam. In addition, it proposes several recommendations for future research aimed at deepening the understanding of communicative language practices within television environments, specifically relating to distinct media products.
