This thesis has researched and systematized the theoretical foundations for community-based tourism development in general, and specifically for coastal and island communities. The thesis has also identified the necessary requirements for developing community-based tourism in the coastal and island areas of Khanh Hoa province, such as tourism resources, community needs, and the community's ability to participate with stakeholders. Based on the research data and the DPSIR model, the thesis has proposed a community-based tourism model applicable to the coastal and island areas of Khanh Hoa.

Practical significance: The research results of this thesis are a product of high practical value. The community tourism model can be used as a reference and applied by the government and local communities in the three research areas to develop tourism sustainably. Finally, the thesis proposes and suggests groups of solutions for the development of community tourism in the coastal and island areas of Khanh Hoa.

This thesis has studied and codified the basis for community tourism development in general and the community in the coastal areas and islands in particular. This thesis also finds out the necessary requirements to develop community tourism in the coastal areas and islands of Khanh Hoa as a source of tourism resources, the community's demands and their participation with the stakeholders. On the basis of research data and DPSIR model, the thesis has launched community-based tourism model which can be applied in the coastal areas and islands of Khanh Hoa.

Practical significance: The research result of the thesis has a very high practical value. Community tourism model can be useful for the government and the community in the three research areas to study, consult and apply in order to develop tourism steadily. Finally, the thesis has offered some recommendations and proposed solutions for the development of community tourism in the coastal areas and islands of Khanh Hoa.
