10. Summary of the thesis results:

The thesis has researched and clarified five points:

  1. An overview analysis of Vietnam-EU relations from 1995 to the present;
  2. Assessing the progress of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement;
  3. Analyzing the context and factors driving the Vietnam-EU FTA;
  4. Steps and content for reviewing and preparing for the Vietnam-EU FTA;
  5. Analyze the potential impacts of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Vietnam, and propose solutions to promote the positive aspects and mitigate the negative aspects of the EVFTA for Vietnam.

The research findings of this thesis have clarified the overall picture of Vietnam-EU relations, specifically the issues surrounding the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) currently under negotiation. In the process of integration and development, Vietnam needs suitable FTAs. Therefore, negotiating an FTA with a potential partner like the EU is a worthwhile decision for Vietnam. Participating in this FTA offers Vietnam significant opportunities for economic development, market opening, and enhanced international standing.

However, alongside the benefits that a future EVFTA would bring, Vietnam still faces some challenges that will require significant effort from Vietnam to overcome and find the right direction for an FTA that is equitable and amicable between the two participating parties.

While there have been many studies on Vietnam-EU relations, this is the first research topic specifically examining the EVFTA since Vietnam and the EU began negotiations. Therefore, the results of this thesis are the most accurate and relevant to the process leading to the EVFTA.

11. Practical applications:

The research findings of this thesis provide readers with useful information and a multifaceted perspective on the ongoing process leading to the EVFTA. Furthermore, it serves as a reference document for leaders and strategists playing key roles in the EVFTA negotiations. This will help them make informed decisions and provide guidance for negotiations, enabling Vietnam to successfully sign the FTA as soon as possible.

12. Future research directions:

To effectively negotiate the EVFTA, efforts are needed not only from state management agencies but also from representatives of Vietnamese businesses (associations). Due to the confidentiality of the details of the negotiation rounds, this thesis has not delved deeply into researching and evaluating the negotiation areas within the framework of the Agreement, thereby failing to propose solutions to address existing problems or directions for negotiation in each specific area.
