8. Major: Science and technology management Code: 60.34.04.12
9. Scientific instructor:Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mai Ha
10. Summary of the results of the thesis:
(1) The thesis has systematized a number of concepts on "science and technology organizations", "resources", and "international integration". Based on the synthesis of articles on the theory of international integration in general and international integration in science and technology in particular, the thesis has (a) pointed out the causes and impacts of international integration in science and technology on the development of a country's science and technology organization system; (b) affirmed that international integration in science and technology is an inevitable and irreversible trend. From the theoretical study of resources, the thesis has also affirmed that resources are the main barrier to the development of all organizations, including science and technology organizations in the process of international integration in science and technology (because international integration in science and technology is both the development goal of science and technology organizations and the factor that creates pressure forcing science and technology organizations to change and reform to suit the development trend).
The new point in the theoretical part is: The thesis simulated the process of international integration in science and technology as well as resource barriers to that process into a model (Figures 2 and 3).
(2) By means of data synthesis, the Thesis has presented an overview of the S&T organization system in Vietnam and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). Through statistical investigation, data analysis and expert interviews (combined with previous research data), the Thesis has described the current state of international integration of the S&T organization system in Vietnam in general and of VAST in particular in comparison with the world S&T.
The new point is: The thesis has proven that four factors of financial resources, human resources, material resources and information resources are barriers for VAST in the process of international integration in science and technology. On that basis, the thesis has proposed a number of measures for VAST to overcome these barriers, in order to achieve the set international integration goals.
12. Practical application:
(1) Recommendations on measures to overcome resource barriers for VAST in the process of international integration in science and technology can be considered by leaders or units advising VAST leaders for application in management practices in the coming time.
(2) Some theoretical contents, data, and analytical tables in the Thesis can be referenced and used in lectures or as research documents on international integration in the field of Science and Technology.
13. Further research directions:
Expand research for the system of Vietnamese science and technology organizations in the direction of identifying barriers (including resources, or some other barriers such as institutions and policies) in the process of international integration of the whole system.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
(1) The Thesis has systemized key concepts and definitions on “Science and Technology organizations”, “Resources” and “International Integration”. Having studied on theoretical papers, the Thesis has (a) indicated causes of and impacts by S&T international integration into the development of a national S&T systems; (b) proven S&T international integration is both inevitable trendancy and irreversible process. Resulting from theoretical study on resources, the Thesis has also confirmed that the former is main barriers to the development of all organizations, including Science and Technology ones (S&T international integration is not only a development goal of an organization but also creates pressure on the latter to be reformed and thus adapptive to the trend).
A new point in the Thesis is: to depict S&T international integration as well as its barriers within two figures no.1 and no.2.
(2) By data synchronization, the Thesis has provided systematic overviews on Vietnam's S&T systems and The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). Through survey, data analysis and experts' interviews (with data from previous studies), the Thesis has depicted a reality of S&T international integration situation of the whole Vietnam S&T systems in general and VAST in particular in global comparision.
A new point in the Thesis is: to prove four factors of financial resources, human resources, infrastructure and S&T information to be main barriers to VAST's international integration. Having based on that proven argument, the Thesis has recommended some solutions to overcome those barriers to reach development goals.
12. Practical applicability:
(1) Recommendations on solutions to overcome barriers to VAST's S&T international integration may be applied by VAST leaders in coming future.
(2) Some key theoretical information in the Thesis may be utilized for educational purposes or as knowledge input for further academic study.
13. Further research directions:
Research shall be extended towards the whole Science and Technology systems whereas the study will focus on to identify key barriers, including resources or else to S&T international integration of the entire systems.
