Currently, in general, the division of labor between husband and wife in Lao rural families in general, in Xaythany district in particular, most of the time both husband and wife are responsible for the main activities in the family. However, in that division of labor, there are also many jobs that men are mainly responsible for such as: production, business activities, activities that require a lot of strength and jobs in social participation activities. Women are mostly responsible for the main jobs in housework and family care. On that basis, we can see the factors affecting the division of labor between husband and wife in rural families in Xaythany district, Vientiane capital at present such as: Influence from gender, age, occupation, family economic situation... especially the traditional cultural ideology of the people has assigned jobs to men and women such as: Housework and family care are women's jobs. However, according to the research results, many families share these jobs with each other. However, the thesis also proposes some solutions and some recommendations to make the division of labor between husband and wife in rural Lao families more and more equitable.
