The diplomatic relations between the Tay Son dynasty and the Qing dynasty (1789 - 1802) were a period with many dramatic and unique events in the relationship between the two countries. The content of the thesis has contributed to systematically, objectively and comprehensively restoring the diplomatic relations between Dai Viet (Tay Son dynasty) and China (Qing dynasty) from 1789 to 1802 in many aspects such as: tribute ceremonies and receiving royal decrees, tribute trade activities, territorial border issues, cultural relations. From there, we draw comments and assessments on the characteristics of the Qing - Tay Son relationship: Tay Son diplomacy always demonstrated flexibility and cleverness while also demonstrating initiative, determination, preserving national dignity, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. It can be said that maintaining peace with the North to focus on the South, being patient with the strong to maintain independence, building a developed country, and resolutely protecting national sovereignty became the unique diplomatic art of the Tay Son dynasty against the powerful Chinese neighbor.

11. Practical application:

Those diplomatic lessons will be valuable lessons for the current Party and State of Vietnam in skillfully preserving national peace, protecting national security, especially in diplomatic relations with China.
