10. Summary of the thesis results:
This three-chapter thesis systematically presents the achievements in educational and training cooperation between Vietnam and Laos since their complete liberation, particularly during the period 1992-2014, and proposes solutions to promote future cooperation in education and training between the two countries. First, the author identifies the foundations (favorable natural conditions, long history, close cultural ties, intertwined populations, etc.) that have fostered and strengthened the cooperative relationship in education and training between Vietnam and Laos from a very early stage. This is a special relationship forged throughout history, from the resistance war against France to the war against the US.
Regarding educational relations between Laos and Vietnam before 1992, the author clearly points out that the viewpoints of the two Parties and the two states of Vietnam and Laos have always considered education as a top national priority. Therefore, even during the resistance war against France, Laos sent cadres and students to Vietnam for study. This number increased steadily after 1975.
Regarding the Laos-Vietnam educational relationship from 1992 to 2014, the author clearly points out the changes in the international context after the Cold War. The thesis then presents key data on the human resources that Vietnam has trained for Laos and vice versa. In particular, the author analyzes cooperation from the central level, ministerial level, and between provinces; from training students at all levels to training leadership and management personnel.
Based on an analysis of the results of cooperation between the two countries in the past, the author has predicted future developments and proposed several solutions to further promote this cooperation.
This is the first master's thesis researching the educational and training cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
