10. Summary of the thesis results:
This thesis has researched and clarified three main contents: Factors affecting Philippines-US cooperation in the security and military fields from 2001-2017; The current state of Philippines-US cooperation in the security and military fields from 2001-2017; and an assessment of Philippines-US security and military relations during the period 2001-2017 and prospects for the coming years.
Based on an analysis of factors influencing the Philippines-US relationship in the security and military fields, including objective factors (changes in the international political and security environment; new challenges from within the region) and subjective factors (traditional relations between the two countries and their need for cooperation), this thesis identifies the driving forces for the Philippines and the US to draw closer together. The thesis also clarifies the current state of the Philippines-US security and military relationship, highlighting its characteristics and impact on the region, including Vietnam. Furthermore, the thesis forecasts the future prospects of the two countries' security and military relationship, despite current signs of deterioration.
While numerous studies and articles have been written on Philippines-US relations, very few have addressed cooperation between the two countries in the security and military fields. This thesis has logically compiled, synthesized, and organized the data to clearly demonstrate the characteristics and impact of this relationship on the region. The research results possess profound theoretical and practical value.
11. Practical applications:
The thesis has highlighted both positive and negative impacts on Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. From the perspective of policy researchers, the thesis contributes to providing a scientific basis for determining the policies and priorities in defense cooperation between Vietnam and the United States in the coming period.
12. Future research directions:
The US remains committed to strong engagement in Southeast Asia, while the Philippines is pursuing a policy of reducing its dependence on the US. Therefore, the Philippines-US relationship in general, and in the security and military fields in particular, will be a fascinating and highly topical issue.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
The thesis did research and clarify three main contents: Effects on the Philippines – US relations regarding security, military from 2001 to 2017; Status of the Philippines – US relations on security, military from 2001 to 2017; Assessments on the Philippines – US relations on security, military from 2001 to 2017 and its perspective.
Based on analyzing effects on the Philippines – US relations regarding security, military from 2001 to 2017 such as subjctive factors (changes on international politic-security environment; new regional challenges) and objective ones (their traditional relations and the needs to cooperate by both sides), the thesis demonstrates the motivations for their closer relations. The Philippines – US security, military relations during 2001 to 2017 were clarified, in order to point out the characteristics of their relations and their effects to the region, including Vietnam. The anticipations on the perspectives of their relations were made in spite of the slowdown of their relations
Although, there were many research papers and theses on The Philippines – US relations, few of them related to security and military. The thesis was finished by collecting data, arranging this data logically to recorgnize their characteristics of their relations and effects on the region.

The thesis points out both positive and negative effects on the Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. From the restrained' view, the thesis played an important role on providing the scientific findings to define the guidelines and priorities Vietnam -the US military relations.
12. Further research directions, if any:
The US has been carrying out its commitments to strongly engage in the region, meanwhile the Philippines has got a policy to reduce its dependences on the US. Therefore, the Philippines - US relations in general and the Philippines – US security and military relations remain a topic of interest as well as a topiccal question.
