This thesis, "Approaching the Two Films 'When the Child Is Home' (2017) by Vu Ngoc Dang and 'Hai Phuong' (2019) by Le Van Kiet from a Cultural Perspective," aims to understand and approach these two films from a cultural perspective. Specifically, it examines the movement and evolution of cultural aspects within the two films through the core issue of the depiction and representation of Southern Vietnamese cultural space, the relationship between people in their interactions with the community and with themselves, and the clash of cultural values in people's spiritual lives. Through this, we see the authentic portrayal of life in Vietnamese villages and cities, showcasing not only the poetic and charming beauty of rivers and villages, and the abundance of nature, but also the struggle for survival of each individual.
Simultaneously, the thesis examines the prominent narrative and cinematic language elements of the two films to clarify the regional and stylistic imprints of each director from a cultural perspective.
