10. Summary of the thesis results:
Intellectual disability is one of the most common forms of disability in Vietnam today. However, intervention and support for children with intellectual disabilities face many difficulties. One of the challenges faced by families with disabled children is the lack of knowledge and skills in caring for and educating these children. Therefore, improving knowledge and skills in care and education, as well as connecting families with intellectually disabled children to support services, is a necessary need. This work requires effort from many sides, and the role of social workers is indispensable. This thesis delves into the research of the role of social workers in assisting families with intellectually disabled children through a series of activities aimed at mobilizing family participation to achieve the best results in supporting the children.
This thesis does not simply focus on the supportive relationship between social workers and their clients, who are children with intellectual disabilities, but rather on the interaction between social workers and their parents – because parents are the closest people to the children, understand them well, and will be the main support in their daily lives and studies. A notable point is that the social workers' activities attract enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from parents. This provides them with additional knowledge, experience, relationships, and skills to support their children in overcoming their disabilities and integrating into the community.

The supportive relationship between social workers and the parents of children with disabilities is a long-term one, providing support for children with disabilities in general and children with intellectual disabilities in particular.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
Intellectual disability is one of the common forms of disability in Vietnam today. However, the intervention and support for children with intellectual disabilities are facing many difficulties. One of the difficulties that the families of children with disabilities are facing is the lack of knowledge and skills in caring for and educating children. Therefore, the knowledge and skills to provide care and education as well as connections to support services for families with children with intellectual disabilities is a necessity. This task requires the efforts from many sides including indispensable role of staff in social work. Thesis research going into the role of social workers in supporting families with children with intellectual disabilities, with a series of activities aimed at raising the participation of the family in order to bring best performance in supporting the child.
Thesis is not simply directed at the aid relationship between the social worker (social worker) and clients are children with intellectual disabilities, but directed at the interaction between social worker and father, their mother - because parents are close people, understand the child and will be the main support in daily life, a child's learning. Highlights of social worker activity attracted the enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from parents. Since then they have more knowledge, experience, relationships,skills ... to assist their children to overcome the disability, integrate with social communities.
