10. Summary of thesis results:

Intellectual disability is one of the most common forms of disability in Vietnam today. However, intervention and support for children with intellectual disabilities are facing many difficulties. One of the difficulties that families with children with disabilities are facing is the lack of knowledge and skills in caring for and educating children. Therefore, fostering knowledge and skills in caring for and educating children as well as connecting support services for families with children with intellectual disabilities is a necessary need. This work requires efforts from many sides, including the indispensable role of social workers. The thesis delves into the role of social workers in assisting families with children with intellectual disabilities, through a series of activities to mobilize the participation of families to bring about the best results in supporting children.

The thesis does not simply focus on the supportive relationship between social workers and clients who are children with intellectual disabilities, but on the interaction between social workers and their parents - because parents are the ones who are close to, understand the children and will be the main supporters in the children's daily life and study. The highlight is that the activities of social workers attract enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from parents. From there, they have more knowledge, experience, relationships, skills... to support their children to overcome their disabilities and integrate into the social community.

11. Practical application:

The supportive relationship between social workers and the child's parents is a long-term relationship, supporting children with disabilities in general and children with intellectual disabilities in particular.

Thesis research going into the role of social workers in supporting families with children with intellectual disabilities, with a series of activities aimed at raising the participation of the family in order to bring best performance in supporting the child.

Thesis is not simply directed at the aid relationship between the social worker (social worker) and clients are children with intellectual disabilities, but directed at the interaction between social worker and father, their mother - because parents are close people, understand the child and will be the main support in daily life, a child's learning.
