Hue, a city known for its rich cultural traditions, preserves numerous valuable cultural heritage assets, not only of the locality but also of the nation and humanity. However, the understanding of Hue's cultural forms, especially its intangible cultural heritage, among domestic and international tourists, and even local residents, remains limited. This stems from various reasons, but one of the most important is the lack of necessary information to educate and change public awareness and behavior regarding the preservation and promotion of Hue's intangible cultural heritage.
As two important media outlets representing the voice of the government and people of Thua Thien Hue, the Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station must fulfill the role of providing essential information to residents and tourists on current affairs, politics, culture, and social issues of the locality. In recent years, along with the general development of the country and the proper attention of the Party, State, and local government, the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage in general and intangible cultural heritage in particular has seen many positive changes. Together with relevant agencies and local people, the Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station have always closely followed, supported, and effectively fulfilled their role and responsibilities in this work. Programs and features on cultural heritage in general, and intangible cultural heritage in particular, have increased in both quantity and quality, partially meeting the information needs of the local public and domestic and international tourists. They also promptly reflect shortcomings and present effective ideas and initiatives in the process of preserving and promoting the local intangible cultural heritage. The content and format of cultural programs and features have also been invested in and innovated to suit the trends of modern media. These changes have contributed positively to bringing intangible cultural heritage closer to the local public and domestic and international tourists, enhancing the status of Hue's intangible cultural heritage in the national and global cultural treasury.
However, due to various subjective and objective reasons, the role of Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station in the preservation and promotion of the local intangible cultural heritage still has many limitations and has not truly met the requirements and tasks assigned by the local government and people. With the thesis topic: The issue of preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage in Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station, the author has researched and monitored the sections and programs on intangible cultural heritage in Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station from 2012 to 2014, thereby highlighting the current state of implementation of the preservation and promotion of Hue's intangible cultural heritage by these two media outlets. Through analysis, evaluation, and sociological surveys of over 1000 people from districts, communes, towns, and cities in Thua Thien Hue Province; Through in-depth interviews with the public, experts specializing in Hue culture, and reporters covering culture at Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station, the author has compiled and proposed several recommendations and solutions to further enhance the role of Thua Thien Hue Newspaper and Radio-Television Station in this area, such as: Changing and renewing the content and format of cultural programs and features; Improving the capacity of cultural reporters and editors; Innovating the thinking of media leaders; Strengthening interaction with the public; and several other solutions...

Hue - the city known as the land of cultural traditions- retains a lot of cultural values not only significant for the city itself but also for the whole country and humanity. However, there is limited understanding from both domestic and international tourists, even from the local people, of different types of Hue cultural heritage, especially of the intangible cultural heritage. This comes from many different causes, however, one of the most important causes is the lack of necessary information that is relevant to the knowledge, and from that we encourage changes in perceptions and behaviors of the public on preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage of Hue.
