10. Summary of the results of the thesis:
Depressive disorder is a state of decreased mood, decreased interest and pleasure, and decreased energy for activities. In typical depressive disorder, the patient shows signs of inhibition of all mental activities: sad mood, depression, decreased interest and pleasure, feeling of bleak future, slow thinking, association, difficulty, self-esteem, decreased mobility, loss of appetite, fatigue, sleep disorders. In severe cases, there may be delusions of guilt, suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
Depression is characterized by a cognitive triad in which the individual has a negative view of himself, others, the world, and the future. These negative cognitions are the mechanism that maintains depressive symptoms in people with depressive disorders.
In clients with depressive disorders, there are often some common cognitive patterns: Selective generalization, from a few small details such as smiles, eyes, emotions, the client can conclude that others have a bad view of him; Over-generalization, after failing in relationships with 2 men, the client thinks that all men are bad; perfectionist thinking, demanding that he and everything around him must reach a level of perfection. It is these cognitive errors that cause the client's disappointment in himself, people and the world around him.
Applying cognitive therapy to clients with depressive disorders has helped clients replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Specifically, clients are able to identify their own negative thoughts, develop skills to re-examine negative thoughts, have the ability to challenge negative thoughts and form positive thoughts to help them have a correct view of themselves.
