The thesis explores the relationship between moral discourse and love/sexual discourse inLegendary Romanceof Nguyen Du. The contradiction in Nguyen Du's thoughts (when viewed from the surface, he speaks of morality but the content of his thoughts is about love/sex) originates from the reason of the times. The relationship between moral discourse and love/sex discourse inLegendary Romanceof Nguyen Du (in which he is implicitly voicing his agreement with the burning desire for free love) shows Nguyen Du's progressive and enlightened thinking. Moreover, when studying this relationship, we further affirm thatLegendary Romanceis one of the peaks of Vietnamese literature in the Middle Ages. The work shows the maturity of medieval prose from prose with a heavy functional character to prose rich in artistry.
