10. Summary of the thesis results:

This thesis studies community participation, including surveying the level of community involvement in tourism activities, the factors promoting participation, and the barriers affecting community participation in tourism activities in Cu Lao Cham, Hoi An, Quang Nam province. The research results show that community participation in tourism activities here is at level 5 (passive participation) according to the Pretty scale (1999). The study also identifies the factors promoting community participation and the level of influence of each factor. It also identifies the level of influence of barriers affecting community participation in tourism activities.

Based on that, the thesis has proposed several solutions to attract community participation in tourism activities and reduce barriers affecting the development of community-based tourism in Cu Lao Cham.

The thesis researches community participation including: surveying participation level of communities in tourism activities, analyzing the factors that promote the participation and barriers that affect the community participation in tourism activities in Cham Island, Hoi An, Quang Nam province. Research results show that community participation in tourism activities here is at the level of 5 (passive participation) according to the Pretty scale (1999). The study also points out the factors that promote community participation and the influence degree of each factor. Identifying the influence degree of the barriers that affect community participation in tourism activities.

On the basis of what the study has done, the thesis has proposed a number of measures to attract the community participation in tourism activities and limit the barriers affecting the development of community-based tourism in Cham Island.
