10. Summary of the thesis results

Surveys conducted by newspapers such as Nhan Dan, Thanh Nien, Tuoi Tre, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and the Vietnam Sea Magazine show that these publications have extensively and effectively disseminated the Party and State's policies and guidelines on the development of the Central Vietnam's coastal and island economy to the right target audience. They have fully reflected the current state of the Central Vietnam's coastal and island economic development, providing management agencies with a comprehensive view of the region's economic landscape, thereby enabling them to formulate appropriate policies. They have proposed many practical solutions to promote the development of the Central Vietnam's coastal and island economy; and they have identified effective operational models in various sectors of the Central Vietnam's coastal and island economy, reflecting these in the media for other regions to learn from and replicate.

Newspapers have established public agendas through events and issues of significant impact on the economic development of the central coastal and island regions. That is, before major events or issues, newspapers and journalists often plan to determine the level of information coverage and whether to publish multiple articles to attract public attention. Surveys show that many events and issues are covered in numerous articles and multiple installments by newspapers, drawing widespread readership.

The critical analysis style of Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre newspapers is very high. Meanwhile, the newspapers Nhan Dan, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and the Vietnam Sea Magazine have a low level of critical analysis. In other words, Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre don't just focus on promoting policies; they not only point out advantages but also decisively and forcefully attack shortcomings and negative aspects, far more so than the other newspapers and magazines.

The information and guidance in Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre newspapers regarding the economic development of the central coastal and island regions is significantly higher than in Nhan Dan, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and Vietnam Sea Magazine. In other words, Thanh Nien and Tuoi Tre provide more essential information for businesses, organizations, and individuals. Meanwhile, the other newspapers and magazines focus more on propaganda, meaning they only provide information that the media outlets need.

Through surveys of six newspapers and one magazine, and in-depth interviews with managers of media organizations and journalists, the author of this thesis has highlighted the successes and limitations, as well as proposed solutions to further enhance the role of journalism in the economic development of the Central Vietnam coastal and island regions.

The research findings contribute to supplementing the general theory on the role of journalism in socio-economic development, including the marine and island economy of Central Vietnam. Furthermore, by providing a general and detailed overview of the current state of journalistic information activities and proposing solutions, this will serve as an important basis for media agencies and journalists to overcome shortcomings and better promote the role of journalism in the economic development of the marine and island regions of Central Vietnam.

12. Future research directions:

The role of the press in the economic development of the islands and coastal areas of South Central Vietnam.
