10. Summary of the thesis results:
Today, burnout issues are receiving a great deal of attention from researchers, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. If left untreated, burnout can have a significant negative impact on physical and mental health, as well as work performance. Furthermore, even when burnout is assessed, it is often underestimated because it doesn't fall under diagnostic criteria like the ICD or DSM, and people believe that simply resting or changing jobs will resolve the problem. However, in reality, burnout poses a health risk comparable to some mental disorders such as depression and anxiety.
This study provides an overview of research on burnout syndrome in both Vietnam and worldwide. Simultaneously, it applies a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques to the intervention process for a young person exhibiting burnout symptoms.
The study results showed that symptoms of burnout were significantly reduced after the intervention. Clients gained additional self-decision-making skills, committed to practicing relaxation and mindfulness, and achieved a better work-life balance. Post-intervention evaluations showed a significant reduction in personal burnout symptoms, improved work performance, enhanced interpersonal relationships, and increased client satisfaction with their current lives.
11. Practical Applicability: Based on the results obtained through theoretical research and practical clinical case studies, this thesis has contributed to demonstrating the impact of burnout on mental health in daily life. It also emphasizes the role and application of psychotherapy in the intervention process for clients.
