10. Summary of the thesis results:
The research topic "Assessment of the Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnamese Forestry up to 2020" has developed a methodology and set of criteria for evaluating a development strategy and research strategy. Applying this research to the case of evaluating the Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnamese Forestry, the author used the selected criteria combined with collected data to assess the Strategy and its implementation results during the period from 2008 to 2016. The criteria selected and used by the author to evaluate the Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnamese Forestry include: relevance, effectiveness, impact, sustainability, and social impact.
The main recommendation of this thesis is that current forestry research topics are largely academic and technical in nature, lacking connection to social groups such as forest planters and protectors, and communities whose livelihoods depend on forests in Vietnam. The current scientific research strategy in forestry needs to be adjusted to focus more on social forestry in order to improve the effectiveness of research projects and contribute more to the practical development of Vietnam's forestry sector by 2020.
This thesis contributes to supplementing the scientific arguments that will help in the development and adjustment of the Vietnam Forestry Research Strategy to 2020 by the General Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The findings of this thesis can contribute to identifying the limitations and shortcomings that need to be addressed in Vietnam's Forestry Research Strategy up to 2020. The recommendations from this study will serve as a reference for management agencies, research institutions, and strategy-making bodies when proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of the forestry research strategy in the period up to 2020.
