The topic "Assessment of Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnam Forestry to 2020" has developed a methodology and a set of criteria to evaluate a development strategy and a research strategy, applying the research in the case of Evaluation of Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnam Forestry, the author used the selected set of criteria combined with collected data to evaluate the Strategy as well as the results of implementing the Strategy in the period from 2008-2016. The criteria selected and used by the author to evaluate the Scientific Research Strategy in Vietnam Forestry include: relevance, effectiveness, impact, sustainability and sociality.
The main recommendation of the thesis: Current forestry research topics are mostly academic and technical in nature and have not been linked to social groups such as forest growers and forest protection communities, and forest-dependent communities in Vietnam. The current forestry research strategy needs to be adjusted to focus more on social forestry to improve the effectiveness of research topics and contribute more to the practical development of Vietnam's forestry sector by 2020.
The thesis contributes to supplementing scientific arguments to help build and adjust the Vietnam Forestry Research Strategy to 2020 of the General Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The results of the thesis can contribute to pointing out the limitations and shortcomings that need to be adjusted in the Vietnam Forestry Research Strategy to 2020. The recommendations from the study will help management agencies, research agencies, and strategy building agencies to refer to when proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of implementing the forestry research strategy in the period up to 2020.
