Summary of the results of the thesis: Since the Doi Moi, the economic and social life of our country has had great changes, including the field of education. Besides the remarkable achievements, Vietnamese education today, including the general education system, is facing great challenges. Especially, in the context of globalization, international integration, industrialization and modernization, and development of the market economy, the "deficiencies" of educational services are increasingly evident. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand that in recent years, many issues of educational services have received special attention from public opinion and the mass media. The research results show that public opinion is widely interested in all aspects of educational services at the general education level, and all are of interest to different social groups at different levels, in which the issue of quality of educational services is always the focus of discussions, proving that educational quality is not only a concern of experts but also a concern of many users of this type of social service. Notably, the current state of moral degradation of students is considered by the majority of parents to be an urgent issue of education. Meanwhile, in addition to the common point with parents in assessing the decline of student morality, teachers are more concerned about the teaching staff in terms of professional capacity, career dedication and remuneration. Parent-teacher conferences are the main "forum" for parents to exchange and discuss and express their public opinion on school issues that they are concerned about and consider urgent. However, about half of the respondents said that parents' opinions have no influence on the school's curriculum. In general, the quality of education is rated as "satisfactory" by most households. This reflects a less critical attitude towards the quality of education from the people. However, it is possible that due to psychological factors in interactions with other individuals in the family, community and school; awareness and information about issues of educational services at the general education level are quite limited, so they can only evaluate within a narrow scope at the school where their children are studying, rather than comparing it with the needs and expectations set out in the quality goals of the education system in the Education Law. The assessment of the effectiveness of the State's educational services has not met the needs of students and their families and the recommendations made to improve the quality of education to a very necessary and necessary level for the majority of households can explain the above reasons. This study is one of the first studies from the sociological perspective of public opinion to deeply analyze public opinion on educational services at the general education level in a rural area today, thereby providing a scientific basis for formulating general education policies, in order to promote the development of this type of social service, better meeting the needs of service users and new requirements of the country's socio-economic development. 11. Possibility of practical application: (if any) 12. Further research directions: Research on public opinion on the quality of university education (case of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Natural Sciences in Hanoi).
INFORMATION ON MASTER'S THESIS
1.Full name of student: Phan Duc Nam 2. Gender: Male 3. Date of birth: August 17, 1982 4. Place of birth: Thai Binh Province 5. Decision of postgraduate student recognition: 2560/2007/QD-XHNV-KH dated November 7, 2007 of the Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi National University 6. Changes in the training process: No 7.Title of thesis: The public opinion of education services in secondary schools (Research in Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province) 8. Major: Sociology; Code: 60 31 3011 9. Guidance Teacher: Assoc. Dr. Quynh Mai Nam Employer: Institute for Human Academy under Institute of Vietnam Social Sciences 10. Summary of the findings of the thesis: Since the Innovation (Doi Moi), social and economic situation of our country has made great changes, including the education sector. Besides the remarkable results achieved, the Vietnamese education nowadays, including the education system is facing major challenges. In particular, in the context of globalization, international integration, industrialization and modernization, developing socialism-oriented market economy, the "defect" of education services has been clearly revealed more and more. So, it is not hard to understand, in recent years, public opinion and mass media have paid their attention on many issues of educational services. Research results show that public opinion pays extensive attention to all aspects of education services at the school levels, and all the attention of social groups with different levels, in which the issue of quality education services are the focus of the conversation, shows that the quality of education is not only the concern of the professionals but also the concern of many users of these social services. Notably, the moral deterioration of the students are now the majority of parents who believe that education is imperative. Meanwhile, besides the common points with the parents in assessing the moral deterioration of the students, teachers pay more attention to teachers in professional capacity issues, career passion and remuneration. The parent meetings are exchanging "forum" and discussing to form and express public opinions of parents about school matters that they concern and consider to be urgent. However, about half of the respondents said that the opinion of the parents does not affect the school's academic program. In general, the majority of households assessed as "satisfied" of quality of education. This represents less critical attitude about the quality of education from the people. However, maybe due to psychological factors in the interactions with other individuals in the family, school and community; awareness and information capture about the problems of education services at the school level is quite limited, therefore, they can only be evaluated in a narrow range in the school that their children attend, rather than matching the needs, expectations that the goals of the quality of the education system proposed in the Education Law. Evaluation opinion of educational content and services of the Government that it did not meet the requirements of the students and families of students and make recommendations to improve the quality of education with options “essential” and “very essential” of the most of households could explain for the above reasons. This study is one of the first studies sociological perspective on public opinion in extensive analysis of public opinion on education services in secondary school in a rural area, which is the scientific basis for the formulation of education policy, to promote the development of this type of social services, to better meet the needs of service users and the new requirements of socio-economic development of the country. 11.
