Summary of thesis results: The thesis researching the signals of ending a conversation in Vietnamese has achieved the following results: The thesis has discovered and identified the role and position of words involved in signaling the end of a conversation in Vietnamese. These are mostly single words and compound words with strong expressive nuances. Examples include: cút (get out), xéo (get out), biến (get out immediately), cút ngay (get out immediately), lượn đê (get out of here),… or words borrowed from foreign languages such as: bye, outside. Particularly noteworthy are some mixed words commonly used by young people today, such as pipica, bbibi. The thesis has identified the linguistic acts involved in signaling the end of a conversation in Vietnamese as acts of affirmation, control, agreement, and expression. They not only perform the function of ending a conversation individually, but also intertwine and jointly perform the function of ending a conversation. The thesis has also identified, analyzed, and described the attitudes of the speaker and listener when a conversation ends. These include attitudes of agreement or disagreement to end the conversation, humility, sarcasm, anger, urging, threats, etc. 11.
