11. Summary of the thesis results:

Explaining vocabulary after each reading passage in elementary school Vietnamese textbooks helps students understand the meaning of difficult words and "key" words in the text, thereby correctly understanding the content of the reading passage. This thesis has addressed the following:

Firstly, we present the theoretical basis related to the topic: the authors' views on Vietnamese words, the methods of Vietnamese word formation, the meaning of words and ways of interpreting them, and the basis for interpreting words in Vietnamese textbooks at the primary school level.

Secondly, we will conduct a survey of the interpretations of compound words with different meanings and compound words with combined meanings after each reading comprehension exercise in Vietnamese language textbooks from grades 2 to 5.

Thirdly, after surveying and analyzing the data, we present our observations and analysis of the reasonable and unreasonable aspects of the word definitions provided after each reading passage in elementary school Vietnamese textbooks. Next, we evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each definition method. Finally, we offer some suggestions for word definitions for students in each grade level of elementary school.

This thesis presents several suggestions on how to explain vocabulary to elementary school students in each grade level.

Interpreting the word meaning after each reading in Vietnamese textbooks for primary schools, to help students understand the meaning of difficult words, the “pivotal” words in the text, then comprehend the content of the text accurately. The thesis has dealt with the following:

Firstly, we present the theoretical basis related to the topic: the views of authors about Vietnamese words, the method creating Vietnamese words, the meaning of words and manners on interpreting words, bases for interpreting words in Vietnamese textbooks for primary schools.

Secondly, we will survey the manners on interpreting categorizing – compound words and summarizing – compound words after each reading exercise in Vietnamese textbooks from Grade 2 to Grade 5.

Thirdly, after surveying and analyzing data, we comment and analyze the appropriate and inappropriate points on interpretation of words after each reading exercise in Vietnamese textbooks for primary schools. After that, we evaluate advantages and limitations of each interpreting method. Last but not least, there are several suggestions for interpretation of words for each grade in primary schools.
