With the aim of clarifying the implementation of regulations on gender mainstreaming in the development and implementation of policies to assist the elderly in Vietnam, and subsequently proposing solutions to improve the quality of gender mainstreaming in the development of policies to assist the elderly, this thesis has focused on the following contents:

This study systematizes the theoretical and practical foundations of gender mainstreaming in the development of laws and policies to assist the elderly, and examines current legal documents and policies regulating gender mainstreaming in the development and implementation of policies to assist the elderly.

Review and assess the level of compliance with regulations on gender mainstreaming in the development and implementation of policies to assist the elderly at the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Propose solutions and recommendations to make the implementation of gender mainstreaming regulations in the development of policies to assist the elderly more effective.

This thesis has synthesized and summarized issues related to gender mainstreaming in the development of policies and laws concerning the elderly in general, and policies to assist the elderly in particular, through the process of developing five important documents and policies related to the elderly. The results of this thesis can contribute to making the gender mainstreaming work of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs more effective.

11. Practical applications:

Based on the comprehensive research results, surveys, and practical assessments, the proposals and solutions presented in this thesis can contribute to the development and improvement of labor and social policies and laws in general, and specifically those concerning the elderly and assistance for the elderly.
