10. Summary of the thesis results:
This thesis examines the conversational language found in 13 Vietnamese language teaching materials for foreigners that have been in practical use and widely adopted from 1999 to the present at the intermediate level. This is one of the first practical, applied studies on conversational language in Vietnamese as a foreign language teaching materials at this language proficiency level.
Through specific surveys, the thesis has clarified some quantitative characteristics as well as conversational language characteristics in several aspects such as: utterance according to speech purpose, speech acts and some linguistic-cultural characteristics.
Based on the survey results, the thesis presents some discussions from the perspective of building Vietnamese communication skills for foreign learners at the intermediate level, as well as the compatibility of existing materials with the newly issued Vietnamese Language Proficiency Assessment Framework (2018).
This thesis also attempts to offer some suggestions aimed at improving the conversational language design in Vietnamese language teaching materials to make them more appropriate and effective for teaching and assessment purposes.
11. Practical applications: Conversational language is one of the important aspects in building communication skills and competencies for learners. Therefore, the results of this thesis are valuable for reference and suggestions in developing learning materials, teaching and learning Vietnamese as a foreign language, and simultaneously serving to make the assessment of Vietnamese language proficiency more professional.

The thesis has researched the conversational language appearing in 13 publications on teaching Vietnamese language to foreigners that has been used practically and popularly since 1999 at the intermediate level. This is one of the first practical, relatively large-scale applied researches on conversational language in the documents on teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language at this level of language ability.
Through specific research, the thesis has clarified some quantitative characteristics as well as conversational language characteristics in a number of aspects such as: utterance for the purpose of speaking, speech act and some linguistic and cultural characteristics.
Based on the research results, the thesis has given some discussion from the perspective of building Vietnamese communication capacity for foreign learners at intermediate level as well as the compatibility of existing teaching documents with the newly issued Vietnamese Language Competency Assessment Framework (2018).
The thesis also tries to propose some suggestions for improvement towards the preparation of conversational language in Vietnamese teaching materials to be more suitable and effective for teaching and assessment purposes.
