Summary of the thesis results: The thesis has collected and analyzed relevant primary and secondary sources to clarify the contents about the development of Saigon urban culture (1955-1975) before the influence of cinema, which has not been previously systematically and fully researched on this issue.
In Saigon from 1955 to 1975, cinema had a process of movement and development with many ups and downs, closely related to the contemporary political and social situation. Through the analysis of the penetration of foreign cinema, the development of domestic cinema and the policy of the Republic of Vietnam government towards cinema in this city, the thesis pointed out the influences of this art form on Saigon culture (1955-1975) in the following aspects: the influence of foreign films on domestic cinema; the influence of cinema on other art forms in Saigon; the influence of cinema on the lifestyle and ideology of Saigon citizens.
11. Practical applicability: The research results of the thesis provide a relatively systematic understanding of the influence of cinema on the movement and development of Saigon urban culture in the period 1955-1975. In addition, the thesis contributes to supplementing and enriching the source of materials to serve the research work on the history of cinema in Saigon before 1975 in particular and the history of Saigon urban culture in general.
