11. Summary of thesis results:
The thesis focuses on researching the following issues:
- Concept, classification, basic characteristics of sports TA vocabulary, distinctive characteristics compared to TV (thereby predicting the advantages and difficulties in teaching and learning sports TA).
- Current status of teaching and learning TA sports major: problems and solutions.
Through research I draw the following conclusions:
- Vocabulary plays a particularly important role in teaching, learning and translating sports-related TA. Sports terminology is a scientific terminology, a subsystem in contrast to everyday vocabulary. Regarding translation, there are two approaches to translating texts: semantic translation and communicative translation, of which there are 8 translation methods, but direct translation and faithful translation are emphasized as being the most important.
- 439 TA terms selected from the Textbook are classified from many perspectives. The classification results show the brevity and conciseness of this terminology system. Most of the TV terms translated into TA not only convey the meaning but also try to keep the same form as the TA term. However, many times the form when translated into TV becomes longer than the original term. The diversity and richness of sports-specialized TA vocabulary affirms that sports is an independent specialized TA field.
- Many sports terms have more than one meaning, vocabulary can have slang meanings. To apply vocabulary effectively and appropriately, one needs to pay attention to the slang meanings of words. To effectively apply sports terms in translation, we need a standardized terminology system and use borrowed words when necessary. Teachers and learners of TA in the field of physical education and sports may encounter some difficulties in teaching and learning... The thesis has given some suggestions for teachers of TA in the field of sports to improve the aspects that are still limited in teaching and learning: Classifying vocabulary or specialized terms in teaching, improving teaching content.
12. Practical application: Application in translation and teaching English for sports.
13. Further research directions:
- Continue to survey the English vocabulary of sports in more detail, specifically going into the study of vocabulary in some popular sports such as football, gymnastics, athletics, volleyball, swimming.
- Provide more appropriate, complete and detailed data and references about the above sports, serving the translation as well as teaching of English in the field of sports.

11. Summary of the thesis:
The focus of this thesis is as follows:
- The concept, classification, basic characteristics of the specialized English vocabulary for sports, specific features compared to those in Vietnamese (from which expects the advantages and difficulties in teaching and learning the specialized English vocabulary for sports).
- The situation of teaching and learning the specialized English vocabulary for sports: exclusion and solutions.
Through conducting my research I have concluded as follows:
- Vocabulary plays a crucial role in teaching, learning the specialized English vocabulary for sports. The terms in the field of sports have been viewed as the scientific terms, being viewed as a sub-system compared to common words. In conducting the related translation, there have been two approaches of translating the specialized English vocabulary for sports specifically semantic and communicative translation being formulated by eight translation methods in which direct translation and faithful translation have been emphasized.
- 439 terms selected from the course books are classified under different perspectives. This classification has produced the brief, concise system of terms. Most of the Vietnamese equivalents of those terms not only convey their meanings but also keep similar forms as those in English source language. However, in many cases the forms of the Vietnamese equivalents are seen longer than the original terms. The diversity, richness of vocabulary of the specialized English vocabulary for sports has contributed to the confirmation that the specialized English vocabulary for sports contains its own independence.
- Much specialized English vocabulary for sports contains more than one meanings, even a lot of them can imply slang meanings. For effective application of vocabulary for sports we shall need to have a system of terminology that has been standardized and make use of borrowed words when necessary. In their work of teaching and learning the specialized English vocabulary for sports people may encounter some difficulties... This thesis has made some suggestions for concerning teachers to improve these aspects being seen as limitations in their teaching and learning of the students such as the classification for common vocabulary or specialized terminology for sports in teaching as well as targeted teaching contents.
12. The practical application: The application in translation and teaching the specialized English vocabulary for sports.
13. Suggestions for further research:
- To continue the tentative survey for the specialized English vocabulary for sports in which deeper study will be emphasized on certain words being used in popular sports such as soccer, gymnastics, track and field, volleyball, swimming.
- To make a more appropriate classification and reference of the specialized English vocabulary for sports to facilitate the work of translation as well as teaching the specialized English vocabulary for sports.
