Due to a lack of knowledge and the numerous psychological and physiological challenges faced by high school students entering adolescence, the need for reproductive health education is very high. This need is addressed in five main areas of research: the need for reproductive health education in schools, the need for content, timing, and forms of education, and finally, the need for the target audience for which students wish to receive reproductive health counseling. Of these, 88% of students expressed a need for reproductive health education at school. Regarding the timing of education, they believe it should be introduced as early as possible, starting in the final years of primary school. However, they also emphasized that the most crucial and necessary time is in the final years of secondary school. The knowledge content they are most interested in is contraception and safe abortion methods. With their preferred and effective forms of education, students participate in school clubs, receive educational content in the media, and benefit from the active support of counseling experts. The people they most want to receive counseling from are counselors, but also their parents, teachers, and friends.
Beyond simply identifying the needs for reproductive health education among high school students, the researcher, as a social worker, proposed specific intervention activities aimed at providing contraceptive education and support to a group of high school students in Hoang Hoa II, Thanh Hoa.
10. Practical application:
Based on research findings indicating a high level of awareness and educational needs regarding reproductive health among students today, the researcher, as a social worker, applied group social work methods to develop specific intervention activities aimed at supporting and providing knowledge and skills on contraception methods to high school students.
