10. Summary of thesis results:
In the history of Chinese philosophy, Confucianism in general and Confucianism of Confucius and Mencius in particular are typical political and ethical doctrines. The basic content of Confucian ethics of Confucianism and Mencius is to discuss human nature, the role of ethics in perfecting human personality, and at the same time to propose basic ethical standards including Humanity, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom, Trust, Filial Piety, and Loyalty that each person must follow. Each of these basic ethical standards is associated with a certain social relationship. Since being spread to Vietnam, Confucian ethical standards of Confucianism and Mencius have had a profound influence on all classes of people.
Through the changing stages of history, Vietnamese people in each period have proposed different ethical standards to meet the practical requirements of society. Based on the practical experience of the Vietnamese revolution, Ho Chi Minh proposed the ethical qualities of Vietnamese people, including: loyalty to the country, filial piety to the people; love for people; diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality; and pure international spirit. Those ethical qualities are important to all classes of Vietnamese people, including students, in order to build and perfect revolutionary ethics. Because Vietnamese students are young intellectuals, they will be the future owners of the country. However, due to their young age and lack of life experience, in the process of studying and cultivating their ethics, Vietnamese students have been influenced both positively and negatively by old ethical standards, including Confucian ethics.
Faced with the current situation of moral decline of a part of Vietnamese students, a problem arises that is to regularly educate students about ethics, especially traditional ethical standards. Therefore, the research results of the thesis contribute to clarifying the influence and significance of basic ethical standards in Confucianism on the moral education of students, thereby proposing some key solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of moral education of Vietnamese students today.
