10. Summary of the thesis results:

The foreign policy of any country, especially major powers, always attracts the attention of all nations. Based on an accurate analysis of the factors reflected in this policy, each country can promptly develop or adjust its foreign policy accordingly, creating a favorable international environment for national development. Japan, as an economic superpower, always plays a crucial role not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also globally. Therefore, Japan's foreign policy impacts not only international relations in the region but also affects every country worldwide. Particularly in the early years of the 21st century, specifically from 2001 to 2006, Japan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Koizumi, underwent significant transformations, impacting the global political situation, especially in its relations with major powers: the United States, China, and Russia.

This thesis delves into an analysis of Japan's foreign policy during Prime Minister Koizumi's tenure, focusing on three major powers: its traditional strategic ally, the United States, and its two neighbors, China and Russia, across the fields of foreign policy, economics, culture, education, and science and technology. The dominant foreign policy towards these major powers can be summarized as Prime Minister Koizumi's policy of maintaining friendly relations with the United States, while strengthening and enhancing relations with his two major neighbors, China and Japan.

The thesis also showed that in the history of Japanese politics, few prime ministers have been able to leave such a profound mark during their term in office as Junichiro Koizumi. From many perspectives, Koizumi's influence on domestic politics, as well as the economic environment, foreign relations, and especially relations with major powers, is very clear and even extends for many years. However, even in his successful term, there was a limitation: his hardline policies further strained the already frosty relationship with China. This is something his successors need to pay attention to in order to build on strengths and overcome weaknesses, so that Japan can truly become a powerful nation both economically and politically.

11. Practical applications:

Japan is a major power playing a nearly dominant role in the region, possessing immense economic strength and the ability to influence the situation in Northeast Asia at present. Furthermore, its strategic alliance with the United States, and its relations with its two powerful neighbors, China and Russia, directly affect global politics, Northeast Asia, and have a significant impact on Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. Analyzing Japan's foreign policy during Prime Minister Koizumi's tenure is crucial for understanding Japan's foreign policy not only in the early 21st century but also under subsequent Prime Ministers. From this analysis, Vietnam can formulate a diplomatic policy that is most appropriate for its relations with Japan and other major powers.

12. Future research directions:

Japan's foreign policy towards major powers—the United States, China, and Russia—has undergone and will continue to undergo significant changes under successive Prime Ministers, impacting not only the region but also the globe. Therefore, research on Japan's foreign policy, particularly towards major powers, remains a promising area for further study. Furthermore, besides Prime Minister Koizumi, his successor, Shinzo Abe, also left a profound mark on Japanese politics due to the evolving foreign policies towards major powers and their significant regional impact; this is another topic that could be further explored in the future.
